WORLD STAMP EXHIBITION IBRA 2023

On the occasion of a philatelic event, awaited by collectors, the IBRA 2023 Exhibition, Romfilatelia introduces into circulation on Thursday, May 25th the postage stamps issue „World Stamp Exhibition IBRA 2023”.

The World Exhibition, IBRA 2023, organized under the patronage of the International Philatelic Federation will open at Messe Essen (Essen Fair), Germany, from 25-28 May 2023. The defined aims of the event are: to promote friendly relations and maintain close cooperation between philatelists and stamp collectors from all over the world and to promote philately at the highest international level. More than 750 exhibitors from all over the world have announced their participation and will present around 3350 exhibition panels. Special sections will be organized with “German Philatelic Jewels” and exhibits representing world rarities such as the first postage stamps issued in the British colonies.

Romfilatelia, present at the Essen Fair, will make available to philatelic enthusiasts the issue dedicated to the event (World Stamp Exhibition IBRA 2023) along with series of postage stamps from other issues with themes appreciated by collectors.

The World Stamp Exhibition IBRA 2023 issue brings together three exceptional philatelic products: a postage stamp, a perforated souvenir sheet and a collector’s block with two imperforated postage stamps (the stamp of the issue and the stamp of the philatelic souvenir sheet).

The postage stamp, with the face value of Lei 11, reproduces the official logo of the IBRA 2023 Exhibition, the German version, together with the traditional graphics of the postage stamps printed
with metal plates made by engraving artists in the period after 1872 when the Romanian Stamp Factory was established. Until 1876, printing was carried out in France.

The stamp of the souvenir sheet (with the face value of Lei 34) adds the effigy of King Carol I to the postage stamp graphic, printed on artistically engraved plates, on the first postage stamp printed at the Stamp Factory (1876). The background of the souvenir sheet, designed like a vintage mail envelope, gives the product a special preciousness. It should be noted that all the postage stamps of the issue have graphic elements identifiable under ultraviolet light.

The collector’s block, (numbered), with the two imperforated postage stamps, includes in its graphics the royal coat of arms of Romania and a fragment of the text of a letter addressed by King Carol I (on May 3rd, 1891) to the President of the Council of Ministers, Emanoil Florescu, in order to obtain concrete support for the achievement of the project that envisaged the “Carol I” University Foundation (known today as the “Carol I” Central University Library). The signature (reproduced) of King Carol I lends the product a character of official nobility.

Minisheets and ordinary postage sheets, reproduce alongside stamps, interesting labels for any passionate collector.

Romfilatelia thanks the representatives of the “Carol I” Central University Library for their documentary support provided to the development of this issue of postage stamps.

The philatelic issue will be available starting with Thursday, May 25th, 2023, in Romfilatelia’s shops network in Bucharest, Bacău, Brașov, Cluj-Napoca, Iași and Timișoara and online on https://romfilatelia.ro/store/.
