UNESCO World Heritage Committee

The Chair of the Committee, Deputy Dumitrița Gliga, had a meeting with Mr. Gabriel Bulumac, of Romfilatelia, to establish joint projects through which culture and the elements included in the UNESCO World Heritage can be brought even more strongly to the forefront.

A central moment of this year will be the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Queen Marie – an emblematic personality of Romanian history and identity – through an exceptional philatelic event, meant to pay tribute to her political, diplomatic, artistic and cultural role.

At the same time, the common directions for the major anniversaries in 2026 were also established:

The Year of Constantin Brâncuși – 150 years since the birth of the great sculptor, whose work, included in the UNESCO heritage, has become a universal symbol;

70 years of Romania’s membership of UNESCO (1956-2026) – marked by a special philatelic collection dedicated to Romania’s tangible and intangible heritage, as well as to Romania’s values in education, science, culture and sport;

The Year of Nadia Comăneci – established by law by Parliament, on the 50th anniversary of Montreal, to offer younger generations a model of excellence, determination, and commitment.

Romfilatelia reaffirms itself as a strategic partner in promoting Romania’s cultural heritage, with stamps remaining true ‘cultural embassies’ that carry to the world the story of our monuments, traditions, and personalities.
