Romfilatelia invited to the Exhibition ‘Military Saints in Iconographic Representations’

Bucharest, April 8th, 2025

The ‘King Ferdinand I’ National Military Museum hosted today the opening of this exhibition, organized in the context of the Centenary of the Romanian Patriarchate, highlighting the close relationship that has existed over time between the Church and the Army.

The exhibition ‘Military Saints in Iconographic Representations’ brings to the attention of specialists and the general public special, lesser-known heritage pieces from the museum’s collections, such as ‘Precious Objects,’ ‘Paintings,’ and ‘Flags.’

Through iconographic representations, this exhibition highlights the military past of well-known saints in the Romanian Orthodox Church, such as Saint George, patron saint of the Romanian Army, also known as the Bearer of Victory, Saint Mina, and Saint Demetrius.

Romfilatelia, a traditional collaborator of the Museum, was invited to this event and will develop a special cover dedicated to the Military Saints.

The cultural event, held close to the Holy Easter Holidays, was attended by representatives of the host museum, the Ministry of National Defence, the Romanian Orthodox Church, and the cultural sector, paying tribute to the military saints who serve as examples for us.

Romfilatelia, in its capacity as promoter of national values through postage stamp, symbol of the country, will join other events of this kind as an invitation not to forget the national cultural heritage.
