During the Press Conference held by the Romanian Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu and his Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan, Romfilatelia was invited to launch the Romania-Armenia joint issue of postage stamps, Ana Aslan “and the Elixir of Youth”.
The conference took place in the Grigore Gafencu Hall of the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and started with the signing by the two Foreign Ministers of the Action Plan between the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for 2023-2024.
After the signing ceremony, the moderator of the Conference, Chief of Protocol Sandra Gătejanu, invited Romfilatelia’s CEO Cristina Popescu to present the elements of the joint stamp issue:
“The stamp with the face value of Lei 2.90, whose layout was created by Romfilatelia, shows Ana Aslan in her maturity. The design of the postage stamp includes in its concept, in association with the portrait of the exceptional personality Ana Aslan, a symbolic bouquet of buds, known as the seeds of permanent rejuvenation of nature. The similarity to the medicines created by Ana Aslan, designed to preserve human youth, is induced in the viewer’s mind. The postage stamp with a face value of Lei 11 depicts the portrait of Ana Aslan in her youth, an oil painting by Jean Alexandru Steriadi, selected by the Armenian Post Office for the design of its own postage stamp. The figure of the character breathes youth and optimism.” said Romfilatelia’s CEO.
At the end of the speech, the CEO of Romfilatelia thanked the representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania, the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Romania, the colleagues from the Armenian Postal Administration – HayPost and the representatives of the “Ana Aslan” National Institute of Geriatrics and Gerontology for the documentary and photographic support for the development of this joint stamp issue.
This was followed by the launching ceremony of the joint Romania-Armenia stamp issue, with the two foreign ministers being invited to unveil and sign the philatelic panel, a promise of remembrance of the prominent personality, Ana Aslan.
As the postage stamp takes us to the world and brings the world into our home, from now on, Ana Aslan, appreciated by both Romanians and Armenians, will remain in our homes and hearts, but also in the world philatelic heritage.
At the end of the meeting, the two ministers made joint press statements.
