Bucharest, January 24th, 2025

Today, the National Museum of Romanian Literature hosted the anniversary session ‘Silviu Angelescu 80’ at its headquarters on Nicolae Crețulescu Street.

Professor Silviu Angelescu, beloved by generations of students and a landmark in Romanian folkloristics, turned 80.

Speeches were delivered by Acad. Mircea Martin, Acad. Mircia Dumitrescu, both full members of the Romanian Academy, Pavel Șușară, art critic and member of the National Philatelic Commission, Professor Ioan Lefter, Ph.D., Nicolae I. Nicolae, Anton I. Anton, Victor Ivanovici (via Zoom), and Călin Andrei Mihăilescu. The event was moderated by Ioan Cristescu, Director of the hosting institution.

Romfilatelia, as an institutional partner, was invited to launch a special philatelic cover under the ‘People, Actions, Values’ series, dedicated to Professor Silviu Angelescu on his anniversary. Deeply moved, Professor Angelescu thanked for the gesture, noting that this cover would carry messages to his loved ones and reach the homes of those who appreciate his work and professionalism.

Romfilatelia expresses its gratitude to the National Museum of Romanian Literature for the invitation and extends its best wishes to Professor Silviu Angelescu: ‘Happy anniversary and good health!’

The Romanian stamp, a symbol of the state, will continue its honourable mission of promoting national values, with the promise to support similar events in the future.
