On the occasion of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, Romfilatelia participated today in the ceremony commemorating the victims of the Holocaust and the 78th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz extermination camp at the Choral Temple in Bucharest.
On this occasion, wreaths were laid on behalf of the President of Romania by the President of the Romanian Senate, the President of the Chamber of Deputies, the Prime Minister of Romania, the President of the Constitutional Court of Romania, the President of the High Court of Cassation and Justice, the President of the Court of Accounts of Romania, the Chief of the Defence Staff, the Ambassador of the State of Israel in Bucharest, the President of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Romania and the Deputy representing the German minority in the Romanian Parliament and other officials from the Presidential Administration and the Government.
In their speeches, both the officials present and those who delivered recorded messages – mentioning here Mr. Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of the State of Israel – paid a pious tribute, honouring the memory of those who sacrificed their lives in the Holocaust – the 6 million Jews.
The officials present assumed their sacred duty to keep alive the memory of the victims of the Holocaust and their responsibility to act for tolerance, rights and freedoms, democracy, the fight against anti-Semitism and xenophobia.
Romfilatelia, in its mission as a promoter of universal values, has over the years promoted Jewish spiritual values and paid tribute to the victims of the Holocaust through issues of postage stamps and philatelic products, with the promise that it will continue to stand by all the important moments of the Jewish community.
May the memory of the victims remain forever in our souls!
