A legendary champion visiting the Romanian stamps home

On Wednesday, September 30th, 2015, Romfilatelia received at its headquarters the visit of the great sportsman Ion Tiriac, this meeting’s issues being related to the philatelic project carried out by our society in the honour of the former tennis player.

With an existing tradition in the achievement of postage stamp issues promoting important Romanian values and personalities, whose activity and career path have brought recognition and numerous achievements to our country, Romfilatelia has the pleasure to add to the 2015 editorial plan a new project alike.

The postage stamp issue, scheduled to be introduced into circulation this year, will pay tribute to the great sportsman’s career, being another proof of his talent and performances, accomplishments strengthened by the continuous support of the Romanian and foreign public.

Mr. Ion Tiriac received with joy Romfilatelia’s initiative to create this philatelic project, during the visit held at our society’s headquarters being discussed details necessary to its completion.

Moreover, Mr. Tiriac was interested to find out more information about the history of the Romanian postage stamp and its evolution across time, thus receiving a short introduction into our company’s achievements, the philatelic issues with sports theme and those projects dedicated to successful Romanian sportsmen.

At the end of the visit, the former tennis player signed our society’s book of honor by inserting a few thoughts which honour us deeply: ”With great sympathy and respect for those who create unique things and are unique people.”
