Romfilatelia celebrated the International Day of Children at Cotroceni Palace

Monday, 1st of June 2015, on the occasion of the International Day of Children, Romfilatelia received the invitation to participate to the event organized by the Presidential Administration in the welcoming space of the Cotroceni Palace.

Hundreds of children, accompanied by parents or teachers, arrived at the Palace since early morning hours, filling the location with laughter and joy.

Dedicated to the little ones, but also to all the parents who are still children in their hearts and souls, the event started in the Unirii Hall of the Cotroceni Palace, where H.E. Mr. President Klaus Werner Iohannis received all the guests.

“For you to have come in such great number and for being so happy and enthusiastic, it really shows that today is, indeed, the Day of Children. Welcome everyone! It is the first time when I invite so many kids and parents in this beautiful Unirii Hall in Cotroceni.
It is a great occasion which shows that, no matter the solemnity of a hall, if it’s full of children, it glows of joy”, declared the head of state.

“Besides the fact that it’s June 1st and it’s your day, the day of children everywhere, we also have a very special event: Romfilatelia expressed its openness for a collaboration and today we will launch a philatelic product. Special thanks to Mrs. Director in this regard.”, continued the president.

Invited to join this event celebrating one the most beautiful period in a man’s life,
the childhood, Romfilatelia answered present to this proposal by preparing a special project for children and thus continuing the tradition to mark June 1st in the Romanian philately.

“In 2015, we dedicate to all children two suggestive postal stationeries illustrating drawings from the “Colour and Dream” Painting Workshop, within the Secondary School no. 1 in Corbeni village, Arges county.”, mentioned Mrs. Cristina Popescu, director general of Romfilatelia.

The drawings reproduced on the envelopes with imprinted stamp were made by the pupils of the painting workshop, having as topic Nature seen through the eyes of a child.

“Nature seen through children’s eyes means respect for nature, their desire to live in a clean society, which will support their efforts to grow in a beautiful and healthy way.”, Romfilatelia’s director general added.

The President was invited to sign the philatelic panel containing the two postal stationeries, occasion on which he met the two representives of the painting workshop in Corbeni, Sorina and Adelin, whom he congratulated for their drawing talent, also thanking professor Elena Stoica for her guidance and care for these children. Moreover, as a token of appreciation and admiration, the children of the painting workshop present to the event offered the head of state a painting especially made for this moment.

The official ceremony in the Unirii Hall continued with brass band music and demonstrations of “Mihai Viteazul” Guard and Protocol Regiment, which took place on the Baroque Terrace of Cotroceni Palace.

Here, the little ones were welcomed with sweets and baloons, they made pictures with the President, telling him their messages and thoughts, and received philatelic gifts and surprises from Romfilatelia.

Taking into consideration that the stamp is an efficient means of communication, and philately a hobby with formative value, Romfilatelia will continue to be the partner of such events dedicated to children, discovering with them the wonder of covering and illustrating, every moment, a world in a stamp.
